If your CIP pre-rinses are controlled solely on time. This method of controlling the pre-rinse does not take into account the level of soiling in the equipment.

High levels of soiling will take longer to flush out of the equipment, often not getting flushed out by the end of the pre-rinse. Any remaining soiling fouls up the caustic tank, which then needs to be dumped and recharged. This adds extra loading on the effluent plant, increases chemical, energy and water usage and costs.

Low levels of soiling often flush out long before the pre-rinse time ends, thus wasting water and loosing production time due to waiting for completion of CIP.

In short installing turbidity meters to optimize CIP pre-rinses will;
