Portable BOD/COD testing with ABB UviTec
The ABB UviTec AUV101 BOD/COD Field Meter provides reagent-free testing of organic matter in water and wastewater. This portable instrument uses a quartz sample cuvette and multi-wavelength UV/visible LED absorbance measurements to estimate biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD).
Results are available in seconds after a 90-second warm-up. ABB’s Split-Sense technology and calibration memory reduce the need to re-zero between tests. Follow the operating manual for initial zeroing and periodic checks.

ABB’s ranges are estimates based on previous field data and depend on site conditions. Sample dilution can extend the measurement range. Municipal, brewery, pulp-and-paper, and food-and-beverage calibration options are also available.
Calibration for your wastewater
The meter comes with starter calibration models. BOD/COD estimates depend on a correlation that matches the organic compounds in your water. Liquid Ai Data Management PC software connects by USB for data and sample management and for creating and loading site-specific calibration models. ABB lists the software as an annual subscription.
Intended use: ABB states that results typically cannot be used for compliance reporting; they indicate organic loading for process-control support. Food-and-beverage applications require site-specific calibrations using Liquid Ai software.

Choose your field-testing kit
Select the optical path and calibration for your application, plus the optional battery pack for testing away from a power outlet. ABB lists sampling cuvette, power adapters and USB cable with the standard meter. Confirm the supplied kit for the selected battery configuration. Using multiple optical paths with one meter requires Liquid Ai Data Management PC software.
